Why a module

Most floor cushions are made to be used one way. We wanted cushions that could change shape with the room and the day: a stool in the morning, a backrest for reading, a floor bed for a nap. That only works if every block fits every other block, so we sized everything on one grid: 12 cm. A block is 12, 24, 36 or 48 cm in each direction, a mat is 72 or 180 cm long, a basket is 36 cm wide. Stack them in any order and the edges line up.

Asymmetric on purpose

A pile of identical squares is stable but dull, and it only makes one shape. So each block in a family has its own geometry: a wedge that tips your hips forward, a keystone that tapers a stack, a step with two heights, an arc, a bridge you can kneel over. Five different blocks give three useful shapes — and many more if you mix families.

Four drawn prints

Every cover is printed cotton canvas. The four prints started as brush drawings of plants we like to look at: fern fronds, ginkgo leaves, wild oat grass and clover. Each has its own ground colour — moss, terracotta, bone and sage — and every family also has a floor mat, bags, baskets and spare covers in the same print, so the things that live around your cushions match them.

Honest fills

We use three fills and say which one is in every block: buckwheat hulls when a block should mould to you and be adjustable, kapok fibre when it should be soft and light, and a polyurethane foam core wrapped in wadding when it has to keep square edges so other blocks can stand on it. The fill weight is on every product page, and every part is counted in “What is in the box”.

What we do not claim

These are floor cushions. We do not promise better posture, less pain or deeper calm, and you will not find religious symbols on them. What we can promise is the measurement, the fill and the fabric — and that the blocks fit together.
